VIENNA DESIGN WEEK

Stefan Lucut and myself were invited to the Vienna Design Week Festivat at the Schaulabor to stay for 2 days in a logistically well equipped place ( KUNSTHALLE ). After 2 days we managed to fill up the space with 30 posters... here are some of them.

I want to thank the Romanian Cultural Institute of Vienna for being a warm guest, a strong supporter and a real friend during our stay. Thank you - thank you - thank you. Also the Vienna Design Week Team thank you for the warm welcome and for all the support.

Die Seite hat neben vielen anderen auch ganz gute Interviews mit deutschspraechigen Grafiker wie Erik Spiekermann, Walter Bohatsch, Birgit Gunther, Erwin Bauer, Peter Putz, Ruedi Baur ...

Ich habe 4 Stunden an dieser Seite verbracht ...bis um 3 Uhr in der Frueh... hoffentlich das sagt schon was.

VENICE FLEAMARKET

Who would have thought that finding the fleamarket in lovely Venice could promise such a nice booty.

I found this very nice letterpress wooden types at a very affordable price. Don't have entire families but still came pretty close in completing a nice 72pt Univers-Bold_Condensed title case ... and there are 8 other half/families among which Garamond, Times, Univers ... and some italian futurist font I didn't recognize. Owning a bit over 300 characters for now.

Can't wait to play with them.

...hopefully soon more on that topic ( searching for a press right now ) - Know anybody who owns one?

OLD PHOTOGRAPHS BACKSIDES

It is truly amazing and at the same time unfortunate that such craftsmanship and dedication is nowadays on the verge of extinction... Presenting here a beginning of my recently founded collection of typographic mastery covering 5 countries for now( Austria, Italy, Romania, France & Hungary ).

For the moment I can name only one person who is courageous enough to investigate this niche. A true master of old habits, a pattern lover, a true experimentalist, and a brilliant craftsgirl ... probably you've guessed it by now... it is none other than Marian Bantjes.

How much time would you spend on a typographic treatment? How much passion would you invest in the one thing you are doing right now? What style is defining the age we are living? What will future generations know us by? What do you do?
